University of Oulu

University of Oulu’s Microelectronics and Materials Physics Laboratories (MIKLAB) is an internationally recognized, high excellence and quality unit with significant scientific impact in the fields of micro and nanosystem technologies. The education and research fields are materials, devices and their manufacturing technologies with a special emphasis on electronics, photonics and telecommunication applications. The research is carried out in several multidisciplinary research groups in close co-operation with top research groups in Europe, Asia and USA and global and domestic industrial partners. The work is being carried out in collaboration with other research groups within Microelectronics and Materials Physics Labs, national and international research organizations and industrial partners in the framework of European, Tekes and Academy of Finland projects.

University of Oulu focuses on applications that exploit the advantageous properties of nanostructured materials. The group gathers young scientists with background in physics, chemistry and electrical engineering to meet the prerequisite of interdisciplinary research. The main focus of the research is on the synthesis and application of highly-ordered carbon nanotube structures and assemblies that are implemented in working electrical and electromechanical devices.
