Ionautics' participation at the International Conference on Metallurgical Coatings and Thin Films (ICMCTF).

Daniel Lundin from Ionautics participated at the last ICMCTF conference/industrial fair in San Diego where he explained details about the HiPIMS technology which is Ionautics' contribution to Hippocamp European project. In addition to introducing this plasma technology, the conference was a proper place for networking and get in touch with several large manufacturers of deposition equipment , who could be also looking into the possibility of implementing our HiPIMS Pulsing hardware (HiPSTER units) into their product line.

About the conference/industrial exhibition

The ICMCTF is internationally recognized as the premier international conference focused on thin-film deposition, characterization, and advanced surface engineering. It brings together scientists, engineers, and technologists from academia, government laboratories, and industry, thereby merging cutting-edge research with real-world applications. The conference consistently draws more than 700 attendees each year within 37 oral technical sessions and a well-attended poster session.
ICMCTF 2014, will be organized in seven concurrent technical symposia A through G and six topical symposia, addressing experimental, theoretical, and manufacturing issues associated with the development of new coating materials and processes, and evolving approaches to scale-up for commercial applications.
In addition to the technical program, the conference features a two-day industrial exhibition, which is open to the public, showcasing the latest in equipment, materials and services used for the deposition, monitoring, and characterization of coatings and thin films. Short courses and Focused Topic Sessions (FTS) will be offered throughout the conference week.

Ionautics’ goal for the conference (role)

Daniel Lundin is in charge of the HiPIMS session (part of the technical symposium F), which is a full-day oral session with an additional poster session displaying the latest results in this field. The HiPIMS technology is the core plasma technology of Ionautics and is also the major contribution of Ionautics to the HIPPOCAMP project (HiPIMS plasma generators, bias units, diagnostics etc.) This conference gives us a possibility to meet many of the experts in the HiPIMS field, which is necessary for our ongoing R&D as well as to promote our HiPIMS technology.
In addition, we will also be able to show and discuss Ionautics’ HiPIMS hardware and HiPIMS coating recipes during the industrial exhibition, which is an excellent possibility to create additional business opportunities.
