The team from the University of Oulu, represented by Dr. Gabriela Lorite participated in the International Scanning Probe Microscopy Conference (ISPM). ISPM Rio 2015 is the 17th meeting in a continuing series of international meetings featuring research on scanning probe microscopy (SPM), sensors, and nanostructures that began in Seattle in 1999. Scanning probe microscopy is a characterization method in constants development which attends a large range of application including nanostructured materials. The International Scanning Probe Microscopy Conference attracts researchers working in academia, government, and industry and it has rotated around the world. The invited speakers included researchers from Switzerland, UK, France, Germany, Austria, Korea, USA, Japan, Canada and Brazil. In the context of HIPPOCAMP project, the conference addressed the most recent development in the characterization of nanostructured coatings as well as it was an opportunity to disseminate the project in the nanotechnology scientific community. In particular, three topics were close related to HIPPOCAMP: SPM applications in surface characterization and quality control, SPM methods in nanoengineering and SPM applied to nano-carbon systems. Dr. Gabriela Lorite during her oral presentation pointed out the importance in correlated the nano-properties of the developed nanostructured coating with the macro-mechanical properties on the industrial parts. In addition to the oral presentation, a poster was on display during the four days of conference promoting further discussion with the audience.
ISPM CONFERENCE
International Scanning Probe Microscopy Rio 2015 is the 17th meeting in a continuing series of international meetings featuring research on scanning probe microscopy (SPM), sensors, and nanostructures that began in Seattle in 1999. The goal of this meeting is to communicate the latest developments and applications of scanning probe microscopy methods. This meeting attracts researchers working in academia, government, and industry. It rotates around the world (USA, Germany, Japan, UK, China, Mexico, France, Korea, Spain and Canada) and the last one was held at Seoul, Korea, now for the first time will be in South America at Rio de Janeiro (Búzios), Brazil.
