Hippocamp at EMO Milano 2015

Soraluce presented its latest innovations at EMO Milano 2015, the world exhibition dedicated to the metal-working world. EMO - celebrated from 5th to 10th October - is the travelling trade show that is alternately held in Italy and Germany and the chief event for the operators belonging to all fields of the manufacturing industry: from the automotive to the aerospace, from the energy to the biomedical field, from the  electric household appliances to the food industry. Apart from presenting the new DAS system (Dynamic Active Stabilizer), Soraluce showed its customers the latest advances related to the Hippocamp Project.

SORALUCE is consolidated as Home of Innovation with new concepts that will revolutionize the machine-tool field

The brand will introduce in the EMO its commitment with a more human, profitable and safer manufacture. SORALUCE is at the cutting edge of innovation in the machine-tool field. The European manufacturer is going to show that again in the next edition of the international fair EMO in Milan, introducing its new advanced solutions for machining. In this way, SORALUCE will be consolidated as Home of Innovation, due to its wide-ranging experience, extensive technological support and the opinion of its customers.

With all that, a new range of machines have been created in order to revolutionize the market, thanks to the incorporation of a new design concept that emerges to give a respond to the needs of the operator with greater ergonomics and safety.

In accordance with its philosophy based on the continuous improvement of its products, in the last two years this innovative manufacturer has focused its efforts on launching on the market a new generation of machines that incorporate advances never seen in this field. In the EMO, main European fair in this field, that this year takes place between the 5th and 10th of October in the Italian city of Milan SORALUCE will show at stands C20 and D21 hall 1 a multifunction center FMT and a milling-boring FXR-W, examples of the great achievements that have given innovation and solutions for machining.

Both machines have the new DAS system (Dynamic Active Stabilizer). System emerged thanks to the joint effort between SORALUCE and its research center iK4-Ideko and tested in Bimatec-Soraluce, technological center of the brand in Germany. This joint effort of I¬+ D+ i , in which it is especially taken into account the suggestion of users, is depicted on a device able to increase not only the mechanical stability of the machine but also, machining performance by up to 300 per cent. This reduces the classic regenerative effect of the chatter when turning. The DAS system improves surface quality, milling capacity, it also reduces the risk of breaking tools and it increases tool working life under extreme conditions of milling.

The two machines that SORALUCE is going to display in the EMO are also the reflection of a profound re-design carried out by SORALUCE in order to give greater ergonomics, safety and functionality. The European manufacturer is clear that to improve performance of machining it is important to generate a comfortable area of work for the operator. And to achieve that, it has developed a totally new concept in the design that can be seen at different levels. For instance, the new cabin of the operator includes great improvements that enhance visibility and accessibility to work areas. It has also incorporated a new electrical elevation system which requires less maintenance, ensures optimal comfort while using it and the new peripherals are safer and more accessible, which means an increase in productivity and profitability of the machine. SORALUCE adds to these developments its traditional effort to customize its machines according to each costumer's particular specifications.

Moreover, SORALUCE will be showing the latest advances developed in the EU-Funded project HIPPOCAMP which consists basically in developing a new manufacturing process for the deposition of nanocomposites in metal or polymeric structural parts, in order to get a new material that combines high stiffness with high damping capacity.

This novel material will serve as a coating for structural parts of metal or polymer in order to increase the damping of the same, maintaining all the other mechanical properties. The primary role of SORALUCE is to develop a fiber milling quill to increase the damping capacity.

This is the eleventh occasion in which SORALUCE will attend to EMO, occasions in which it has always stood out for its focused solutions on reliability and profitability. The innovative DAS system and the rest of new concepts incorporated in its machines will be detailed in presentations and demonstrations held daily at its stands at 11.00 and 15.00.

The European brand has extensive experience with more than 2.500 machines sold. Nearly half of them in Germany, a very demanding market. It has also been determined that over the years, 80 per cent of costumers have trusted its products again.

After six years, EMO, the worldwide exhibition of machine tools is back in Italy. Promoted by CECIMO, the European Association for Machine Tool Industries, the tradeshow will take place from the 5th to the 10th of October 2015 in the prestigious exhibition centre of fieramilano.

The biennial travelling exhibition, EMO - whose trademark is owned by CECIMO - has chosen Milan as one of its locations alternating with Hanover: this is a confirmation of the efficiency of the organisation, relying on a long-standing experience in the organisation of events and of the expertise of the Italian industry which ranks fourth worldwide forproduction and third for export.

With 120,000 square meters of net exhibition space booked and distributed in 12 halls, EMO MILANO 2015has exceeded the threshold of 95,000 sqm of exhibition occupied by the last edition of EMO MILANO (2009).

More than 1,600 companies are registered at EMO MILANO 2015. The leaders in this ranking are the "masters of the house", Italians, closely followed by the Germans; the Taiwanese are ranking third, followed by Chinese and Swiss exhibitors.

The halls of the exhibition centre of fieramilano Rho-Pero will host the biggest factory in the world, where machine tools, robots, automation, additive manufacturing, mechatronic solutions and auxiliary technologies will be exhibited, expressing the sector’s international production, representing an industry that accounts for 64 billion euros.

“EMO has always been considered the most important event at the disposal of trade operators from the world's manufacturing industry to keep up-to-date on the new production technologies" - states Pier Luigi Streparava, appointed by CECIMO as Commissioner General EMO MILANO 2015 - "It's exactly for this reason, that we decided to include additive manufacturing into the technological index of products of the sector’s leading international exhibition: this is one of the technologies that will be increasingly developed in future and to which the tradeshow will dedicate a special in-depth focus”.

150,000 visitors from approximately 100 countries: these are the figures expected for EMO MILANO 2015, an edition which will also take advantage of the concurrence with EXPO 2015. On this occasion, Milan will show a completely renovated look and an improved traffic flow, thanks to a revised and strengthened public transport service.

Directly connected with the exhibition centre of fieramilano Rho-Pero, Expo 2015 will offer the trade operators of EMO MILANO 2015 many attractions for a unique programme of fringe events. In this respect, the concurrence of the two events will create really interesting synergies for the hundreds of thousands of visitors who will be coming to Milan from every corner of the globe.

“As organisers of this exhibition - Pier Luigi Streparava goes on- we are committed to transforming the concurrence of the two tradeshows into real opportunities for our operators, by planning “connection activities” and by activating numerous special services. An example is the programme Hospitalitywhich accurately lists a large range of accommodation options reserved for trade operators attending EMO MILANO 2015”.

“Since December we have indeed activated many agreements which allow, through the exhibition website, www.emo-milano.com, the booking of accommodation in and around Milan before, during and after the exhibition period; in addition to this there is also a parking reservation service” - concludes Pier Luigi Streparava.

“In the first quarter of 2015 – declares Alfredo Mariotti, Director of EMO MILANO – the index, produced by the Studies Dept. of UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE regarding the quantity of machine tool orders received by Italian manufacturers, registered an increase of 2.2% compared to the same period in 2014, making it 6 positive quarters in a row. The increase in the internal market (+15.4%), has been instrumental to thispositive trend. This information confirms a new period of development and increase for the use of machine tools in Italy. This will materialise with stronger and stronger increases: +5.3% in 2015, +5% in 2016, +7.4% in 2017 (Oxford of Economics figures), to the benefit of EMO MILANO 2015”.

“This data, together with the positive forecast on the global use of machine tools, that will reach 60 billion in 2015, 63 billion in 2016 (+5.2%), 66 billion in 2017 (+4.8%), are a good indication for a successful exhibition” - concludes Alfredo Mariotti.
