Hippocam at the ZELLCHEMING-Expo 2015

Lantier presented their latest innovations as well as the Hippocamp project at the ZELLCHEMING-Expo 2015, celebrated from the 30th June to 2nd July in Frankfurt, Germany. ZELLCHEMING-Expo is the annual highlight of the European pulp, paper and supplier industry, and this year the exhibition had 153 exhibitors and attracted 1,832 visitors. Visitors were able to get more information from Lantier's new damped creping blade and the monitoring system. Next edition of the exhibition will take place next year.

Hippocam at the International Scanning Probe Microscopy Conference (ISPM)

The team from the University of Oulu, represented by Dr. Gabriela Lorite participated in the International Scanning Probe Microscopy Conference (ISPM).  ISPM Rio 2015 is the 17th meeting in a continuing series of international meetings featuring research on scanning probe microscopy (SPM), sensors, and nanostructures that began in Seattle in 1999. Scanning probe microscopy is a characterization method in constants development which attends a large range of application including nanostructured materials. The International Scanning Probe Microscopy Conference attracts researchers working in academia, government, and industry and it has rotated around the world. The invited speakers included researchers from Switzerland, UK, France, Germany, Austria, Korea, USA, Japan, Canada and Brazil. In the context of HIPPOCAMP project, the conference addressed the most recent development in the characterization of nanostructured coatings as well as it was an opportunity to disseminate the project in the nanotechnology scientific community. In particular, three topics were close related to HIPPOCAMP: SPM applications in surface characterization and quality control, SPM methods in nanoengineering and SPM applied to nano-carbon systems. Dr. Gabriela Lorite during her oral presentation pointed out the importance in correlated the nano-properties of the developed nanostructured coating with the macro-mechanical properties on the industrial parts. In addition to the oral presentation, a poster was on display during the four days of conference promoting further discussion with the audience.

Hippocamp at the International Conference on HIPIMS

The team from the Institute of Physics, ASCR represented by Martin Čada participated in the annual International Conference on HIPIMS. Since the year 2010 the conference on Fundamentals and Industrial Applications of HIPIMS has brought scientist from academia and industrial partners together to learn more about new trends in HiPIMS technology. This year the conference was held in Braunschweig (Germany) the town with high-level application-oriented research and development. The conference organisers this year could welcome more than 100 participants. Martin Čada during his oral presentation pointed out new findings achieved in field of ionised fraction of depositing particles measurement and modelling. The presentation emphasised that suggested concept of basic plasma parameters measurement is very suitable for optimisation of deposition processes within the HIPPOCAMP project. Nevertheless presented results attracted attention of audience due to discussions after the presentation and during coffee breaks.

Suppressing tool chatter with novel multi-layered nanostructures of carbon based composite coatings

We are happy to announce that University of Oulu and Plasmatrix have the first joint scientific article published at Journal of Materials Processing Technology! The article presents the synthesis and characterization of the nanostructured Cu:CuCNx coating and its application in a milling tool to suppress regenerative tool chatter. Here you find the link for the article: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0924013615001466.

Hippocamp at SVC TechCon 2015

From April 25-30, 2015, the Society of Vacuum Coaters SVC TechCon was held in Santa Clara, USA and Rafael Sánchez from Ionautics was in the Industrial Exhibition. The SVC is internationally recognized as the most important international conference in vacuum coaters focused in Vacuum Web Coating, Optical coating, Decorative & Functional Coating, Large Area Coating, Plasma Processing, Process Control & Instrumentation, Emerging Technologies, Tribological & Wear Coating and Product & Technology Forum. The conference assistance is more than 3000 attendees each year within 176 oral technical sessions and a well-attended poster session.

The HiPIMS technology is the core plasma technology of Ionautics and is also the major contribution of Ionautics to the HIPPOCAMP project (HiPIMS plasma generators, bias units, diagnostics etc.). The industrial exhibition was open to the public, expositors, technicians and so on. This conference gives Ionautics the possibility to meet many experts in the HiPIMS field, and also potential customers who are interested in using HiPIMS.

Diad Group: video Ice Series 2015

DIAD GROUP took the opportunity of the Ice Series 2015 - International Competition that took place on 21st and 22nd of February in Cervinia (Matterhorn) - to present the running R&D activities on the development of new advanced materials for the automotive sector and the Hippocamp project. The races on ice are a well known bench tests for innovation in the automotive powertrain and chassis, being a critical environment for temperatures shock and stress on the transmission parts. A lot of components are tested and approved in this extreme field, so this is a good environment to promote the Hippocamp innovations. The Citroen DS3 chosen for the tests is a popular car that increase the dissemination efficiency and the idea of future exploitation of the project results on large numbers products. This car will be equipped with a special Hippocamp gearshaft that it is expected to be able to reduce the vibrations in the range 30-200Hz of about 30%, increasing the gearbox life and comfort.
